Questions

The things riders ask before their first ride. Anything else, ask us.

Does this app offer navigation?

Not yet, and that's a conscious choice. We'd rather do one thing really well, and that's everything around a ride, from planning it to the experience after the ride we give everyone. There are a few more criteria we have to meet before it becomes natural for us to think about the next step of the app, which is navigation.

Is Braap free to use?

Yes, that's the beauty of it. Braap is freemium, which means you can use the app and all of its features for free. If you want to give something back, you can with the Supporter subscription for 4.99 EUR/USD a month, which lets you change the look and feel of your profile.

Are there rides in my area?

Open the map and you'll see every planned ride around you. The app is new, so if it's quiet where you are, post a ride yourself and share it with your friends using the share link. That's how an area fills up. We're mainly active in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, since that's where we're from, and we're branching out to the United States.

Do my friends need the app to join my ride?

They don't. Send them the link to your ride and they can tap Join the ride in their browser. If they like it, they can download the app for the full experience. It's on iOS and Android.

How do I know if a ride suits my experience and pace?

Every ride shows its pace. We don't label rides as beginner or experienced, because in our experience that's too subjective. A rider can be a beginner who happens to ride fast and unsafe. If you're a beginner, join rides marked Speed limit, for example.

Do I have to share where I live?

No. The app uses your phone's rough location to show rides near you, and only asks for the rides in the area of the map you're looking at. If you turn on nearby ride alerts, it remembers the area you pick, never your address.
